M4 closure between junctions 6 and 8/9 is going ahead tonight

Just to confirm we are proceeding as planned with the closure tonight from approximately 8pm onwards. We are scheduled to reopen by 6am on Monday morning, and there is a lot of bridge and carriageway work to do over the weekend. Watch this space for further updates.

The full weekend closure starting this evening is as follows:

  • The M4 between junctions 6 and 8/9 will again be fully closed in both directions from 8pm tonight, Friday 29 November and reopening by 6am on Monday 2 December. Traffic will be diverted to the A308M, A308, A332 and the A355.
  • Strategic diversions will also be in place in the wider region using the M25, M3 and M40.
  • For next week, there are only slip road closures booked as follows:

  • Junction 10 – the westbound exit slip to the A329M northbound (slip road 8) will be closed overnight on Thursday 5 December.
  • Junction 11 – the eastbound entry slip will be closed overnight on Monday 2 December.
  • Junction 11 – the westbound exit slip will be closed overnight on Wednesday 4 December.
  • Junction 12 – the westbound entry slip will be closed overnight on 28 November.
  • In the event of poor weather conditions or other issues out of our control, planned work may be postponed at short notice. Contingency bookings are also in place, but these are only used if previously planned work is delayed and there is no clash with other closures. If work completes on an earlier day the motorway may not close, or if work completes ahead of schedule the motorway may reopen early. Signage will be in place on the network to notify of closures and diversions.
